At 48, Valerie Bertinelli drops more than 40 lbs.

The night before Valerie Bertinelli prepared to step out in public wearing a bikini — for the first time in nearly 30 years! — she found herself unable to sleep. As her mind raced with insecurity (”I thought, Am I really going to do this? Can I pull this off?” the actress admits), Valerie Bertinelli tried to summon up a pep talk, telling herself, “What am I so afraid of? Come on — it’s just a bathing suit!”

And yet as any woman knows, those innocent-looking strips of Lycra can be a terrifying sight — especially for someone just shy of her 49th birthday (April 23), who only two years ago tipped the scales at 172 lbs. — more than 40 lbs. over her goal weight for her 5′4″ frame. But after whittling herself down to 132 lbs. in about 9 months on Jenny Craig, Valerie Bertinelli, who had last worn a bikini when she was 20, was ready for a new challenge.

Valerie Bertinelli is on the cover of People magazine. Sure, she’s been there before, but most recently it has been in association with her battle with her weight problem. But not this time around. Valerie Bertinelli is in bikini – and, no, it’s not one of those “guess who this is?” or a gross-out nearly naked picture, either.

At 48 years old and after losing 40 pounds adhering to the Jenny Craig weight-loss method, Valerie Bertinelli is looking hot, more hot, hotter than she has ever looked. Boldly standing with her hand on her hip in a two-piece spring green bikini, Valerie Bertinelli graces the cover of People with a confident smile.

And she should feel confident. She has had her problems with controlling her weight, especially after her break-up and divorce with rocker Eddie Van Halen. She has been a spokesperson for Jenny Craig, the weight loss regimen organization, for the past few years, maintaining a blog and keeping the world apprised with the her daily routines. She even mentions Jenny Craig in her autobiography, Losing It—And Gaining My Life Back One Pound At A Time.

But whether it was Jenny Craig’s weight loss program or Valerie Bertinelli’s perseverance, or a combination of the two, the “One Day At A Time” actress has certainly slimmed down.

LeAnn Rimes is having a shocking affair with her TV movie costar, Eddie Cibrian, Us Weekly reveals in its newest issue, on stands Wednesday.

LeAnn Rimes, 26 — currently wed to former backup dancer Dean Sheremet — got cozy with Eddie Cibrian, 35, on the set of her March 21 Lifetime flick, Northern Lights. Eddie Cibrian was recently seen in Ugly Betty, Invasion and Samantha Who?

“From the moment we rehearsed, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian honestly developed a really strong bond and a warm relationship,” director Mike Robe told Us prior to news of the affair.

LeAnn Rimes married Sheremet seven years ago — when she was just 19 and he was 21. Eddie Cibrian tied the knot with model Brandi Glanville in 2001; they have two sons, ages 5 and 23 months.

A rep for LeAnn Rimes tells Us: “We do not comment on our clients’ personal lives.”

LeAnn Rimes Speaks Out on Affair

All-too-often we hear of celebrities who stray from their spouses, and the latest case of marital infidelity involves country singer LeAnn Rimes.

The 26-year-old star was recently involved in a shocking affair with Eddie Cibrian, her costar in the Lifetime made-for-TV-movie “Northern Lights.”

As of yesterday (March 17), LeAnn Rimes had posted a note on her Web site, saying, “This is a difficult time for me and my loved ones, but I appreciate all your continued support.  I would like to assure all of you that this is a place for you to hear things directly from me and as you all know, not everything in our lives is always black and white.”

LeAnn Rimes has been married to her former backup dancer Dean Sheremet for the past 7 years, though she was spotted holding hands and kissing Eddie Cibrian on a romantic dinner date at Mosun and Club M in Laguna Beach on March 7th.  On March 14th they met for a three-hour hookup at the Malibu Beach Inn.

As most of you already know, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol Palin has broken up with her former fiance and baby-daddy Levi Johnston.

Bristol Palin is now speaking out about the breakup after rumors started swirling this week. She says through a spokesperson:  “It is true that Levi and I are no longer together.

“However, I am absolutely committed to being the best mom to Tripp Easton.”

The pair called off the wedding and engagement “a while ago”, revealed Levi Johnston.

Bristol Palin also says: “As for the tabloid article, there are many inaccuracies contained within it.”

“Unfortunately, my family has seen many things in these tabloids as many try to ‘cash in’ on the Palin name. Sometimes that greed clouds good judgment and the truth.”

Bristol Palin dumps ‘white trash’ fiance

The news that Bristol Palin,  and her  fiance Levi Johnston – the father of her baby boy, Tripp – have broken off their engagement after Bristol Palin allegedly called Johnston’s family “white trash” will come as little surprise to Palin-watchers.

When the news that Bristol Palin was pregnant broke last summer, shortly after John McCain named her now famous mother as his presidential running-mate, there were persistent rumours that the couple might have been pressurised into staying together – and having the child – because of the Alaskan governor’s very public anti-abortion stance.

“Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol Palin makes it nearly impossible,” said Mercede. “She [Bristol] tells him he can’t take the baby to our house because she doesn’t want him around ‘white trash’!”

But while Johnston, 19, swiftly confirmed the report on Thursday, saying they broke off the engagement “a while ago”, he said that the ‘White-trash’ remarks were untrue.

However, these comments prompted a “devastated” Bristol Palin to issue a statement. She said: “Unfortunately my family has seen many people say and do many things to ‘cash in’ on the Palin name. Sometimes that greed clouds good judgement and the truth.”

Lindsay Lohan is apparently livid with Katie Holmes for bumping her off the cover of the April issue of Glamour.

The Mean Girl posed as Like A Virgin-era Madonna – complete with retro crimped hair, heavy makeup, pearls and a wedding dress – for the magazine.

But Lindsay Lohan’s shoot – which she reportedly believed would take pride of place on the front cover – was replaced by Katie Holmes, who gave a revealing interview with the magazine about family life.

“Her Marilyn Monroe shoot for New York Magazine seemed to make her relevant when she did it, she thought the same would happen this time.

“Only she wasn’t on the cover, Katie was, and she’s mad at her now.”

The ‘Mean Girls‘ star (22) was expecting to appear on the front of the April edition of Glamour magazine and was left fuming when the coveted spot was given to her fellow actress Katie. A source said: “Lindsay did a Madonna-themed photo shoot and was totally under the impression it would be the cover.

Only she wasn’t on the cover, Katie was, and she’s mad at her now.” Despite her gripe, magazine sources insist they never planned to put Lindsay on the cover. An insider said: “If that was Lindsay’s impression, it was a mistake. She was always going to be inside the magazine.”

Katie Holmes: ‘I Don’t Let Tabloid Stories Get me Down’

Katie Holmes has revealed how she deals with the tabloid speculation about her life – she just goes about her business as normal.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress – who is married to actor Tom Cruise – insists she is ignores rumors about her and her family, and just gets on with her life.

She tells Glamour magazine, “I feel really, really lucky. And you know what? I feel the best response [to all those tabloid stories] is just going about my life: enjoying life, making movies, being a good mom and a good wife, and focusing on that. Because if you’re doing well, what can they say?”

“I always wanted to do theater,” adds Katie – who recently made her Broadway debut in the Arthur Miller play All My Sons. “And that experience was better than I could have ever imagined. It was fascinating because your performance changes every night.

“You’re learning different things about the play and your character.

“It was great to have Suri come – she couldn’t come every night, but she came a lot during the week. To have my family there was icing on the cake.”
